Junebug
When we pulled Junebug from the shelter on the day she was set to be euthanized, we were told she was a mama-to-be Chow mix… but let’s be real—this girl is all Pitbull love with zero fluff! We couldn't leave her behind. She is 100% beautiful, affectionate, and now, after being an amazing mama to her Seismic Swarm of pups, it’s finally HER turn to find a forever home!

Chow Mein
Chow Mein is a loving, affection-seeking, six-year-old Chow. A handsome cream, Chow Mein loves his toys, and is leaning into his playful side. He especially loves gazing out the windows, keeping track of pesky squirrels! He is well-behaved in the house, and while unsure around new people (he might let out a protective bark at the door), he is friendly to and approaches strangers who show up.
Chow Mein loves his walks and enjoys being part of the action. He’s not a fan of being crated or left alone in the yard, and might express his frustration with a little whine. In the long run, Chow Mein is comfortable around other dogs in group settings but may growl if another dog gets too close to his face. He does have some protective food behaviors—he’s not a fan of sharing chews. Honestly, sharing sweet treats is tough for many of us! Chow Mein would make a fantastic addition to the right family.

Tikka
Tikka is a petite Chow with boundless puppy energy and a heart full of sweetness (and check out that cute underbite!). She’s learning quickly how to interact with other dogs, and it’s a joy to see her enthusiasm for play, especially with her foster's pack. Around people, she’s nothing but affectionate and eager to connect.
While Tikka has a few quirks, they’re nothing she can’t handle. She’s wary of men, but each day brings small victories as she learns to trust. She has some food-guarding tendencies with dogs (though not with humans), so her foster mom is working on creating a calm and structured environment during mealtime. She’s great on a leash, and her eagerness to please makes her progress both rewarding and exciting to witness.
Tikka’s story is one of growth: Her playful personality is shining through as she becomes more confident and socialized. She’s a little spark of joy, and with time, patience, and love, Tikka is well on her way to becoming the amazing dog she’s meant to be.

Siri
Siri is a very sweet 2-year-old Chow mix who is eager to please and loves to play with other dogs! She also knows how to settle down and relax in her crate, giving you the best of both worlds. She is a little shy but is getting more confident on a daily basis.
She does play a little rough with her doggy companions, but she takes correction from other dogs very well. Due to her timid nature, she is cautious around cats and may be fine with a feline sibling with proper introductions. If you are looking for a good snuggle buddy on the couch while you watch your favorite TV show, Siri is the girl for you.

Guthrie
Guthrie is an affectionate red Chow with a personality that’s larger than life. He’s incredibly friendly, always ready to greet you with enthusiasm, and loves nothing more than being close to his people. While he’s a bit barkier than most Chows, it’s just his way of expressing his excitement and zest for life!
Guthrie thrives with familiar faces - his experience with other dogs beyond his kennel pal Gordo is limited, so he’s still figuring out those dynamics. With a bit of patience and understanding, this energetic and loving boy is sure to bring boundless joy to the lucky family who opens their home to him.

Floyd
This three-year-old boy was found running loose in Houston after being dumped by his previous owner. Floyd's past is a bit pieced together, but it's clear he was left to fend for himself for far too long.
Floyd is currently battling mange, which has left him with a scabby appearance. Despite his patchy state, he's incredibly sweet and affectionate. With proper care and love, his skin will heal, and his confidence will grow.
For now, Floyd is embracing the first steps of his new beginning. Floyd has made great progress, and he's adjusting well to his new surroundings. He continues to win hearts, and we're committed to getting him back to full health.

This black-furred heartthrob is a perfect mix of Chow and Blue Heeler, bringing both charm and a little Texas flair. At 45 pounds, he’s got a lean, athletic build, perfect for zoomies or cozying up after a long day of stealing hearts.
Jack is the type to slide right into the group, effortlessly cool and always down for a good time. With his unique mix of intelligence, loyalty, and playful energy, he’s looking for a match who can keep up with his adventurous spirit while also appreciating his softer side.

Grasshopper
Grasshopper is one of Junebug's pups. This guy is much calmer than most of his siblings and just likes to hang around. His tail goes crazy when he gets pets. He is good with other dogs...mostly when they are calm. He is also good with cats and children.

Bumblebee
Bumblee is one of Junebug's pups. As the only girl, Bumblebee is calm and quiet. She loves human company and is a real snuggle bug. She is good with dogs, cats, and children.

Cricket
Cricket is one of Junebug's pups. He is always jumping on and playing with his siblings. He is the most playful of the group, and likes to get into mischief with Termite (shown on the right). Cricket is the scheming friend saying "I double dog dare you!" He is affectionate, like his siblings, but he prefers play over cuddles. Cricket is good with dogs, cats, and children.

Suki
Suki’s story began in a hoarding situation, where she lived as a neglected, undomesticated dog. Suki is now experiencing the warmth of patience and care of humans and a safe home. And wow, does she enjoy a good couch and a warm fire! While still a little shy, she is opening up more each day—allowing pets, enjoying brushing, and even trusting enough to be carried when needed.
What Suki Needs:
- A Secure Home: Suki is an escape artist, so she needs a yard with secure boundaries to keep her safe.
- Patience and Understanding: A calm, patient adopter will help Suki build confidence and continue to blossom.
- A Dog Buddy: A companion dog will help guide her as she navigates life in a loving home.
- Continued Care: Suki has vision issues and may need surgery in the future. HCCC is working with her medical needs.

Felicity
Say hello to Felicity — the pint-sized whirlwind of joy who just joined us from the Little Rock shelter! This adorable little fluff ball is a true spring blossom — full of energy, mischief, and just the right amount of sass. Felicity plays hard with her foster dog brother until they both overheat and need a break. If he gets too rowdy, Felicity lets him know with a bit of attitude (she may be small, but she’s mighty!).
She’s already learning her name and comes when called — about 90% of the time (that last 10% is reserved for squirrel emergencies). Felicity has also discovered the joy of zoomies — her tiny legs are short, but they are quick! She even likes to “walk” her brother on his lead around the yard- too smart for him!
Felicity is working hard on her puppy training— potty training is still a work in progress, but she’s doing great in her crate… until she’s ready to come out. Then she’ll sing the song of her people at full volume — honestly impressive for someone so tiny! She eats like a velociraptor and has a taste for gourmet sticks and premium paper products (triple-ply bounty doesn’t stand a chance).
And let’s not forget — this girl is calendar-model cute. Felicity is full of personality and looking for an adopter who’s ready to keep up with her playful spirit, guide her through puppyhood, and give her the love and structure she needs to blossom.
