If you would like to meet one of our adoptable babies, please email chowmail.hccc@gmail.com.
All adoptions require a home visit and reference checks. If you are ready to adopt one of our forever friends, please click the link below:
Boomer is a friendly, affectionate guy who LOVES people! He’s quick to warm up to new faces and has even been taking treats from strangers during his training sessions. He’s learning to be more comfortable with other dogs and enjoys his walks, but he can be selective with which dogs he likes. With balanced introductions, he’s improving every day.
Boomer is very food-motivated — which helps with training — but you’ll need to watch him around food. He’s not shy about helping himself to snacks (even off your lap!), so setting boundaries around food will be important.
He’s comfortable in his crate, knows basic commands, and is even getting the hang of leash walking without pulling. He’s also comfortable wearing a muzzle when needed.
Boomer is looking for an experienced, confident adopter (preferably with Chow experience) who will continue his training and provide the structure he thrives on. He’s incredibly smart and affectionate once he trusts you — he just needs a patient, understanding hand to help him settle in. Boomer has come SO far, and now he’s ready to take the final step into a loving forever home.
Boomer is currently located in Houston, TX.
Sofie’s Motor Club Puppies — Built for Love, Fueled by Cuteness
Start your engines… because these little classics are ready to cruise into your heart! Born in the Corsicana Shelter, this litter has spent their first miles in foster care, growing strong under the watchful eye of their sweet mama, Sofie—a small, smooth-coated Chow/Shepherd mix with a soft heart and a signature purple tongue.
We suspect Sofie had a midnight rendezvous with a masked mystery man, because most of her pups sport those striking face masks and silky coats.
Meet the crew:
Harley & Holley — our spirited little girls, sleek and sweet
Scout — ready for adventure and mischief
Shelby — the speedster of the group (he may even have blue-green eyes to match his showstopper style!)
These babies were born into the shelter system—but they’re destined for the open road and the open arms of loving families. Could one of them be your forever co-pilot?
The Motor Club puppies are located in Hallsville, TX.
Sofie, the amazing momma of the Motor Club puppies, is a petite, smooth-coated Chow/Shepherd mix with a gentle heart and a signature purple tongue. She loves attention and walks well on a leash.
Sofie gets along with people and other dogs, however, her pray drive is high (if it moves, she wants to chase) so no cats for this girl. She is done taking wonderful care of her six puppies, and is ready for her forever home.
Sofie is currently located in Hallsville, TX.

Cash Has a Story to Tell
Cash may have lost some fur, but he’s gained his voice—and he’s not shy about using it! This chatty boy is feeling better every day and loves talking to his people.
His journey hasn’t been simple. Cash was first purchased from a pet store, then later surrendered when his family decided a Chow wasn’t the right fit with their young child. He was adopted again into a family with kids and two pit bulls, where he did wonderfully with both people and dogs. When a work visa expired and they had to leave the country, they were forced to rehome their pets.
Now about 5 years old and 47 lbs, Cash is safe, cared for, and has started heartworm treatment. Cat testing hasn’t been done yet, but it can be arranged for an interested family.
What he needs most is a Chow-savvy family that will respect his quirks, enjoy his chatter, and help him grow into the happy, goofy boy he’s meant to be.
Cash is currently being fostered in Austin, TX
Gordo is already living up to his name as the gentle giant of the litter. This sweet boy is a big teddy bear who LOVES being held, belly rubs, and cuddling up after a good romp outside. He’s playful with children, enjoys car rides (windows down, please!), and is happiest right by his humans.
Rescued with his mom and siblings from the streets of Houston, Gordo has been thriving in foster care thanks to lots of love and attention. Now, he’s ready for a forever home to call his own.
If you’re ready for a loyal companion who is equal parts cuddle buddy and adventure partner, Gordo might just be your perfect match.
Gordo is currently being fostered in Conroe, TX
These two beautiful girls are finally safe and starting to shine! Henna and Heidi were once scared and unsure, but with time and love, they’ve shown themselves to be calm, gentle, and happiest when together. These sisters are incredibly bonded, and while they could be adopted as a pair (they just need to be fed separately), they would also thrive in homes that understand their sweet, cautious nature.
About Them:
- Both are smaller chows, about 44 lbs each
- Fearful at first, but completely handleable and learning that people can be kind
- Sweet, soulful, and ready to trust again
These girls were once out of time, but now they’ve been given the chance to decompress, grow in confidence, and show their true personalities. They’re learning to enjoy human companionship, and with a patient, loving family, they’ll blossom into the wonderful companions they were always meant to be.
Henna & Heidi are currently being fostered in Red Oak, IA
Meet Monte Hall — The Sweetest Boy You’ll Ever Meet
Monte’s journey started with heartbreak: he was left behind in an apartment when his former people moved away. But this 3-year-old, 61 lb smooth-coated Chow mix (with a little Lab sprinkled in) has shown nothing but love and gentleness ever since.
Why Monte is so special:
- Dog-friendly — he’s had roommates and loves canine company
- Affectionate, calm, and easygoing
- Fantastic choice for beginner Chow families — he’s an easy dog who would do great in a family home with kids, other dogs, and plenty of love
- Cat testing can be done for approved applicants
Monte is the kind of pup who makes life brighter just by being in it. He’s gentle enough for a family, social enough for doggy siblings, and sweet enough to win over anyone’s heart.
If you’ve been waiting for a loyal, family-friendly companion with a heart of gold, Monte is ready to go home.
Monte is currently being fostered in Austin, TX.
