Mochi
Mochi’s journey began in fall 2023 when she was found wandering the rural streets of Houston. While it took time to earn her trust, her foster mom quickly realized she was in severe pain from chronic hip issues. Mochi underwent double FHO surgeries, and now, just over a year later, she’s unstoppable! She leaps, runs, hikes, and wrestles without hesitation, spreading joy with every wag of her tail.
This playful, silly, and devoted sweetheart is ready for her forever family. Could it be you? Mochi's qualities:

Nathaly
Nathaly is a lively and confident Chow who loves to chase toys and show off her playful side with an enthusiastic play bow. She’s bursting with energy and curiosity! While she gets along well with other dogs, Nathaly can be reactive if she feels challenged, so her interactions are carefully managed. Once corrected by another dog, she tends to take the hint, showing promise for improvement with proper guidance and socialization.
This young girl has a lot of love to give. As she settles in and her playful nature continues to emerge, Nathaly is sure to become a loyal and entertaining companion. With patience, structure, and plenty of opportunities to burn off her energy, she’ll thrive in a home that understands her spirit and zest for life.

Chicorita
Chicorita, is still searching for her perfect match! At just one year old, this spunky little survivor has energy for days, a playful spirit, and a whole lot of personality.
Chicorita is always on the move. Whether she’s chasing after a squeaky toy, zooming through the yard, or strutting her stuff on long evening walks, she lives for action. She’s smart, adventurous, and has a touch of mischief—this girl is known to counter surf, climb onto tables, and even break through barriers if there’s something interesting on the other side. She’s a little whirlwind of fun, with a heart full of love for her humans.
Chicorita has decided she’s best as a solo star—other dogs just aren’t her vibe. She's made it clear she is NOT a fan of dogs or drama. She dreams of a home where she can be the center of attention, running, playing, and snuggling up with her person.
She’s a feisty, affectionate, high-energy girl who would thrive with an active, dog-savvy owner ready to keep up with her enthusiasm for life.

Boomer
Boomer is a friendly, affectionate guy who LOVES people! He’s quick to warm up to new faces and has even been taking treats from strangers during his training sessions. He’s learning to be more comfortable with other dogs and enjoys his walks, but he can be selective with which dogs he likes. With balanced introductions, he’s improving every day.
Boomer is very food-motivated — which helps with training — but you’ll need to watch him around food. He’s not shy about helping himself to snacks (even off your lap!), so setting boundaries around food will be important.
He’s comfortable in his crate, knows basic commands, and is even getting the hang of leash walking without pulling. He’s also comfortable wearing a muzzle when needed.
Boomer is looking for an experienced, confident adopter (preferably with Chow experience) who will continue his training and provide the structure he thrives on. He’s incredibly smart and affectionate once he trusts you — he just needs a patient, understanding hand to help him settle in. Boomer has come SO far, and now he’s ready to take the final step into a loving forever home.

Athena
Athena has come such a long way since she first arrived with HCCC! The sweetest side of this stunning girl is starting to shine through. She’s a true human-companion dog who loves her people more than anything else. Her happy greetings when you come home (complete with play bows and a circular tail wag!) are enough to melt anyone’s heart.
Athena thrives in a calm, structured home with older or less active dogs who will respect her space. She enjoys her crate and treats it as her safe spot — the door stays open, and she’ll retreat there when she’s ready to relax. A moderate activity level suits her best — she enjoys short walks, and some backyard exploration when the mood strikes.
No small kids or cats for this girl — her prey drive is strong! Her adopter will need to be patient and willing to help her feel secure in new environments. A fenced yard is a must — she loves circling the perimeter and keeping an eye on her surroundings.
Athena is smart, loyal, and blossoming into the confident girl we knew she could be. She’ll make an incredible companion for someone who understands the unique charm of Chows.

Eclipse
This darling, docile, 50-pound black Chow Chow was rescued with moments to spare from the Montgomery shelter. Fun loving, affectionate, and full of personality, Eclipse adores people—including children. She loves attention, belly rubs, and cuddles. She enjoys playing outside in the fresh air and will greet you with a happy, wiggly welcome every time you walk through the gate! She even tried sneaking out with the kids, but when she was scooped up and carried like a baby, she didn’t mind one bit!
Eclipse gets along well with other dogs and has been exposed to cats—possibly for the first time. She doesn’t chase them but may bark at them from her kennel. She’s still learning leash manners, but she listens well, and she is especially receptive to non-verbal cues like leg pats and playful noises. She’s a little hesitant at first, but with gentle encouragement, she warms up and becomes a cuddle bug.
After enduring a life of neglect, Eclipse doesn't know what being a dog is supposed to feel like. She may not always want to come inside gleefully, but once she does, she happily hops on furniture and demands hugs! Eclipse is ready for her chance to shine. If you're looking for a compassionate companion in a season of change, Eclipse is the new moon you're looking for!

Fava
Fava is one of four brothers who were left behind in a yard when their previous humans moved out. A big-hearted group of shelter volunteers got them to safety and reached out to us after we said yes to their sister—who is now our sweet Squash! In an incredible act of kindness, the volunteers donated all of their vetting to us to help offset their future care.
Fava is described as clumsy and zoomy in the best way, always keeping things entertaining.
Fava and his brothers are about 9 months old, and while their family tree might include a Chow, a Dachshund, a Shepherd—or all three—they’ve all got one thing in common: they are sweet, affectionate lovebugs. Their foster says they’ve gone from shy and unsure to climbing into his lap, begging for pets, doling out kisses, and mastering their new routines like pros.

The Flower Puppies: Aster, Orchid & Lily
Who is more adorable than these three beautiful black and brown chow chow mix puppies looking for their fur-ever families?
Meet the Gang:
First up is the only male of the litter, Aster. He is the fluffiest with wavy hair. So cute!! He is a happy go lucky little guy and ready to jump into the action in a moment’s notice.
Next is Orchid. She and her brother are close to the same fluffy size. She is not shy about getting the ball rolling or leading the team in play.
Then there is Lily. She is the smallest of the litter and has the most chow attitude... She will sit back watching, while devising a plan of action before jumping in. Like her mom, her ears are starting to stand up before her litter mates.
They all look like their mom, Iris, and will probably be close to her 38 pounds when fully grown. Mom Iris is a real deal, sweetie pie and also available for adoption!
