Bagheera is still searching for her forever family. Thanks to the unwavering love and patience of her foster mom, Bagheera now enjoys giving kisses, wagging her tail, and even sleeping on the bed. She remains cautious and needs time to feel safe, but once she builds trust and security, her love and loyalty is STRONG! She loves exploring her surroundings at her own pace, but slow introductions to new places and people are best. With her observant nature and sweet demeanor, Bagheera needs a calm, Chow-savvy adopter who understands her unique personality.
A peaceful, low-stress home without children under 12 years old is perfect. She thrives with a secure, fenced yard where she can roam safely, and a calm canine companion is ideal. Due to her prey drive, she needs a home without cats or small animals.
Bagheera is currently located in Denver, CO.

Buddi is searching for a loving forever home! This handsome senior Chow mix is 7 years young and has a heart full of curiosity and wisdom.
In his old life, Buddi previously enjoyed the freedom of a doggie door, coming and going as he pleased. However, as his owner’s health declined, structure and discipline became inconsistent, allowing his independent Chow nature to shine through. Now in foster care, he’s learning routine and beginning to trust again. While he still appreciates his space, he’s showing more openness to companionship and love. He prefers not to be left alone for long periods and would thrive in a patient, understanding home where he feels safe and secure.
He deserves a home where he can continue to grow and be cherished. If you’re looking for a loyal, soulful companion, Buddi could be the perfect match.
Buddi is currently located in Magnolia, TX.
Buick was found after being struck by a car, and sadly, he suffered significant nerve damage to his left shoulder, rendering his left front leg useless. He also has entropion (a genetic eye condition) and is heartworm positive.
But despite everything he’s been through, Buick hasn't let a little rain dampen his spirits - he is one happy boy! He’s getting around on three legs like a champ, and now that he’s had successful surgery to remove his injured leg, his recovery is going incredibly well! His foster family says he’s adjusting quickly and getting stronger every day, with his spirit shining through. We’re confident that he’ll be fully recovered soon and will be ready for adoption in no time!
Buick is currently receiving the medical care he needs, including treatment for heartworms and ongoing care for his eyes. He’s showing incredible resilience, and we’re so proud of how well he’s doing. With his amputation behind him, Buick will be even more mobile and comfortable as he continues to heal.
Buick is currently located in Austin, TX.
This quirky little guy is truly one of a kind. Once Frosty came to his current foster home and was surrounded by a pack of confident, friendly dogs, we started to see the real Frosty emerge. He began to blossom with daily exposure to canine companions, new people, and gentle, structured challenges. He’s not all the way there yet, but he’s so close—and we believe he’s just about ready for his forever family.
Frosty warms our hearts. He’s truly the happiest, sweetest boy in the whole wide world—and we just wish he loved being touched! Right now, he’ll accept pets when he’s in his crate and someone climbs in with him, but otherwise, he zooms by with the biggest smile on his face. He radiates joy 24/7.
- Soft and shy—never aggressive
- Loves other dogs—he’s a gentle, easygoing sweetheart
- Needs a calm, patient home
- Coat growing in after his fresh spring groom and getting cuter than ever
He LOVES every single dog he’s ever met. Total pushover, total sweetheart. What Frosty needs most is someone patient who will give him time, space, and unconditional love. Watching him bloom is such a gift—and whoever adopts him is going to experience that joy firsthand.
Frosty is located in Austin, TX
Looking for a companion with Chow Chow cool and feline finesse? Meet Yolandi — a 2-year-old, 32-lb chow who struts through life with the quiet confidence of a cat and the loyalty of a dog.
She’s not here for your constant attention. She’s here for selective affection, quiet companionship, and side-eye observations from her favorite cozy corner. But when she chooses you? You’ll feel like the most important human in the world.
- Excellent on leash — graceful walker, no drama
- Dog-social! She enjoys her dog friends and plays well with others
- Has shown no interest in cats so far (intro pending for confirmation)
- Crate connoisseur — it’s her throne
- Communicates with soft grumbles and thoughtful glances
- Could be adopted solo or with her fellow dignified diva, Layla
Yolandi is decompressing beautifully in foster care and thriving in a home that gives her the structure, space, and respect she deserves. She’s the kind of dog who gets you — especially if you’re the type who values peace, quiet, and a little mystery.
Yolandi is being fostered in Texas.
Chow Pal: Jeb the Gentleman
Meet Jeb, one of the Okie Pokies still waiting for his forever home. This all-black beauty was rescued just in time from a rural Oklahoma shelter and has been quietly winning hearts ever since.
Jeb is a quiet, soulful pup with watchful eyes and a gentle nature. He’s giving strong Chow energy — thoughtful, loyal, and slow to trust, but oh-so-devoted once he does. He might take a moment to warm up, but when he does, he’s all in: leaning into your legs, soaking up affection, and quietly sticking by your side.
He’s crate trained, potty trained, and learning every day that the world isn’t so scary when you’re loved. Jeb would thrive in a calm home with people who understand the magic of earning a Chow’s trust.
If you're ready for a loyal shadow, a calm companion, and a quiet heart with a deep soul, Jeb might just be your perfect match.
Jeb is being fostered in Texas.
Meet Penni! The tiniest little redhead with a heart of gold. At just 34 lbs and estimated 5 years old, her pics can't quite capture just how small and sweet she is!
Penni recently joined the HCCC family and is now safe and thriving in a wonderful foster home. Even with all she's been through, she’s nothing but gentle, loving, and endlessly kind. This little lady adores her walks, is friendly with other dogs, and barely makes a sound—she’s truly one of the quietest pups we’ve had.
Penni is still adjusting to her new world but is already showing us her clever side… like the time she figured out how to sneak under the wooden deck (future forever family: you might want to consider a secure fence).
She’s going to make someone an incredible companion. Thoughtful, mellow, and affectionate, Penni is the kind of dog who fits perfectly into a calm household that appreciates soft noses, quiet evenings, and the deep loyalty only a rescued dog can give.
Penni is currently located in Tulsa, OK
She may be small, but she’s making big waves! At just 25 lbs, Layla is the perfect pint-sized companion — easy to carry, easy to love, and just the right fit for a calm, cozy home.
This shy girl came to us unsure of the world, but she’s slowly learning that life can be soft, sweet… and a little splashy. Her favorite pastime? Dunking her face in the water bowl and crawling under the dog house like it’s her own secret grotto.
Layla is dog-friendly, but not a fan of cats — she'd thrive best with a pup friend who respects her space. She’s still gaining confidence, but each day she gets a little braver and a little closer to becoming someone’s forever shadow.
If you’ve got a quiet home and a lot of love, Layla’s ready to trade her fins for feet and join your world.
Layal is currently being fostered in Texas
Guess who's thriving in her foster home? Yep, our girl Annie Eloise! She’s come so far since her initial rescue and her transformation has been nothing but inspiring. Annie was found near an area known for abandoned pets, and after briefly disappearing, she finally reappeared—ready to be saved.
Annie’s personality is shining through more every day!
- Calm, watchful, and gentle
- Dog-friendly with proper introductions
- Responds beautifully to patient, consistent care
- Quiet and loyal — not clingy, but full of quiet love
- Best suited for a chow-savvy home that honors her pace
Annie may not be the first to leap into your arms, but give her time, and she’ll be the one who quietly lays her trust at your feet — a silent thank-you in every glance.
Annie Eloise is currently being fostered in Houston, TX
Straight from the chaos of the shelter system to a life filled with belly rubs, pool time, and shared dog beds—Pebbles and Bambi are living proof that rescue works! These 2.5-year-old chow chow girls (each about 50 lbs) are soaking up every moment of safety and comfort in foster care. And while they’re not bonded, they’ve formed a sweet, sisterly connection that's been such a joy to watch.
Pebbles (rough coat) is the gentler soul—more reserved but full of heart. She shines in peaceful moments, especially when snuggled up next to Bambi (yes, they always squeeze into the same bed—even with three to choose from!).
Bambi (smooth coat) is the confident adventurer. She LOVES the pool, picked up her new routine like a champ, and brings a calm, steady vibe wherever she goes. Crate-trained and always curious, she’s the brave big sister of the pair.
While these girls are not cat-friendly, they are 100% kid-approved! Both girls are great with respectful kiddos and would thrive in a loving family home. While we’d love to see them adopted together, they’re absolutely okay going to separate homes—what matters most is the right match for each of them.
Pebbles and Bambi are currently being fostered in Texas.
