Pringles

Some days, the energy just feels softer — and Pringles fits right into that calm. On mellow afternoons, all he wants is a little time outside to sniff the air, take in his surroundings, and settle in to watch the chickens before curling up for a nap on the back step.

Pringles is wonderfully easygoing and well-mannered outdoors. He enjoys his time outside without digging or being destructive, content to relax and quietly observe the world around him. When he hears the chickens or pigs behind the play yard, he’ll slowly wander over with calm curiosity, watch for a bit, and then return to his nap like it’s all part of the routine.

He’s also shown that he can enjoy the company of other dogs — recently making a mellow, laid-back male friend. Pringles was happy to sniff and say hello before heading back to his favorite pastime: chicken-watching.

And of course, there’s his prized possession — a Kong toy. Anytime someone walks by, Pringles is quick to grab it and proudly show it off, as if to say, “Look what I have.” Pringles would thrive in a home that appreciates a dog who doesn’t need chaos to be happy — just steady routines, gentle companionship, and space to relax.

Pringles is currently being fostered in New Braunfels, Texas.

Cyrus

Meet Cyrus, a happy 1-year-old high Chow mix with a playful heart and a wag that never quits! At just 34 lbs, he’s the perfect mid-size pup — big enough for adventures, small enough for couch cuddles.

Cyrus loves being around other dogs and thrives on playtime and companionship. He’s social, curious, and full of joy — the kind of boy who makes every day brighter.

Now that he’s getting regular meals, love, and a safe space to be himself, Cyrus is blossoming beautifully. All he needs next is a forever family to share it with.

Cyrus is currently being fostered in Austin, TX.

Starburst

Some dogs come into rescue quietly… and then immediately wrap themselves around your heart. That’s Starburst.

This tiny girl may be small in size, but her spirit is enormous. At just about 1 year old and 31 lbs, Starburst has already lived through more than any dog should. She was found chained behind a home with several other dogs and somehow survived freezing conditions before animal control rescued her. When she arrived at the shelter, she was emaciated and covered in fleas — yet through it all, she never stopped being happy.

Her tail still wiggles nonstop. Her trust in people never broke.

And what everyone notices first?

- Her adorable pure black tongue

- Her tiny size

- Her constant desire to be close to her humans

Starburst is the definition of a love bug. She wants nothing more than to climb into your lap, soak up affection, and finally belong to someone who will never leave her behind again.

So far she has shown herself to be:

- Great with kids

- Cat approved

- Friendly with other dogs

- Extremely people-focused and affectionate

She isn’t looking for perfection — just a safe home, soft place to land, and someone who will love her as much as she loves them.

Starburst is currently being fostered in Austin, TX.

Angel

Angel’s life changed when her family faced financial and housing challenges and made the loving decision to help her find a safe new future. Now, this sweet girl is decompressing in foster care and showing everyone just how special she is.

- 4 years old

- 54 lbs

- Samoyed / Chow mix

Angel is an active, intelligent girl who enjoys both playtime and relaxing indoors. She loves chasing a ball, running around the yard, and showing off her playful energy — but she also has wonderful house manners and settles beautifully inside the home.

What Angel’s foster has learned about her:

- Excellent indoor manners

- Loves playing fetch and zooming around the yard

- Knows commands like sit and no

- Loyal watchdog — she gives a full alert when the doorbell rings, visitors arrive, or new household sounds catch her attention

- Despite being a big girl, she adorably likes to tuck herself under an end table or coffee table to feel safe

- Can get a little rough in the yard when she gets excited and playful

- No cats for Angel

Because Angel can stand up and reach higher surfaces — and may accidentally bump into little ones during play — a home without young children is recommended so everyone stays safe and comfortable.

Angel didn’t do anything wrong — life simply changed. Now she’s waiting for a family who will appreciate her loyalty, playful spirit, and loving heart.

Angel is currently being fostered in Denton, TX.

Adventura (aka Vinny)

Vinny is a very sweet boy who was found wandering in the woods in Georgia before being trapped and brought to the shelter. He was terrified & shut down. Vinny likely spent most of his life outdoors without socialization.

He is now in a foster home, learning what it means to be loved. Vinny needs an adopter with lots of patience who will go at his pace. He is timid and skittish with strangers, as a lot of things are new for him. He requires a home with older children only, so that he can have respectful space. He has not shown any aggression towards people, only fear of new people.

With time to warm up, Vinny is a typical chow- he wants to be near you on his own terms. He will scoot closer when he thinks he is not being watched, or will dart in to give a quick lick to show affection. While Vinny is not cuddly, he is starting to learn that pets and brushing feel good, and will lean in to ask for more. He is eager to please and wants to do the right thing.

Vinny loves other dogs and would benefit from having another dog in the home that can be his playmate. He has a gentle play style and is great at both initiating and taking cues.

He enjoys chewing on bones and playing with toys. He likes to gather his toys and put them in a spot that he considers his own but does not resource guard. When he is done playing, he settles easily & is content laying nearby another dog or familiar person.

Vinny is still working on leash training. If he has a yard, it must be a secure 6’ or taller fence - he is a flight risk. Frightened easily & would enjoy living in a quiet area, where he can have time to feel safe.

Vinny is currently being fostered in New York City.

Rumpelstiltskin

When Rumpelstiltskin arrived from San Antonio as a neglect surrender in early April, his condition was heartbreaking. He had open wounds on his face, neck, and legs. His coat was matted and damaged. He clearly hadn't received the care he needed for a very long time.

But somehow, through everything he endured, Rumpel never stopped loving people. His foster describes him as incredibly resilient. Even while healing, he would push into people for affection, squeak for pets, and happily hand out kisses. Every week he grew healthier, more comfortable, and more confident.

Today, the wounds are healed. The skin issues are gone. His coat is growing back. And for the first time in who knows how long, Rumpel gets to just be a dog. Recently he's started making friends with other dogs and has even begun showing his playful side. Watching him discover toys, play, and carefree moments has been one of the best parts of his journey.

Rumpelstiltskin's Highlights:

- 2 years old

- Heartworm Negative

- Microchipped

- Fully vaccinated

- Dog Friendly, moderately playful

- Easily redirected

- Affectionate and Loves Attention

- Enjoys Pets and Gives Kisses

Rumpelstiltskin never stopped believing people could be kind. Now he just needs a family to prove him right.

Rumpelstiltskin is currently being fostered in San Marcos, TX.

Xina

If you’re looking for a sweet, goofy, loyal girl with a BIG personality, Xina might just be your perfect match. Xina is affectionate, cuddly, and absolutely loves attention from her people. Once she trusts you, expect her to gently roll into you for pets and scratches — she’s very good at making sure you know when she wants love.

Young Xina prefers slow introductions and takes time building trust, especially with men or people who approach too quickly. She communicates honestly and appreciates calm, respectful body language. Once she feels safe, her sweet personality really shines.

She’s also stubborn… and probably a little too clever for her own good. But she learns FAST! She’s already improved her manners and now politely sits at the door instead of trying to bulldoze her way outside.

- 2 years old

- 37 lbs

- Heartworm positive

- Heartworm treatment fully covered by HCCC

- LOVES fetch

- Prey drive: Squirrels, birds, and cats are VERY exciting and will absolutely steal her attention

- Mostly ignores barking dogs behind fences

- Extremely picky eater — meat and cheese are basically the only approved food groups

- Prefers to potty in backyard vs on leash – privacy please!

Xina will thrive with someone patient, understanding, and willing to let her build trust at her own pace. In return, you’ll get a loyal companion with so much love to give and a personality that keeps you laughing every day.

Xina is currently being fostered in Houston, TX.

Rusty

This is Rusty, a handsome young chow mix who narrowly escaped euthanasia at the shelter due to a minor health issue. Thanks to the dedication of local rescue teams, Rusty is safe and ready to find his forever home.

About Rusty:

Age: Approximately 1 year

Weight: 50 lbs (just needs a few extra pounds)

Temperament: Calm, affectionate, and people-loving. He’s been crate-trained and adjusts well to his temporary home.

Dog-friendly: Yes, with most dogs. Not cat-friendly. Kid compatibility not tested.

Special Notes: Rusty has a shorter coat than a typical chow, but he rocks the classic chow expression and tongue! He has a slightly limited range of motion in one front leg due to an old injury, but it doesn’t slow him down.

Rusty has faced more than his share of challenges, but he’s proving to be resilient, sweet, and loving every step of the way. He’s currently in temporary care and ready to meet the family who will give him the love he deserves.

Rusty is currently being fostered in Las Cruces, NM.

Baloo

Meet Baloo – Big Boy with a Big Heart!

Baloo is a 4-year-old, 60-pound sweetheart with a friendly personality and a love for people. He was found as a stray in early April and is thriving in foster care while he waits for his forever family.

Baloo's Highlights:

- Potty trained

- Loves car rides

- Loves to give you his paw

- Open and friendly with strangers

- Friendly with female dogs (loves hanging out with Rescue Barbie!)

A few Things to Know:

- Strong prey drive and cat drive

- Not tested with male dogs

- Picky eater-may need to entice with chicken and rice

Currently sporting a shorter coat than usual while his fur grows back in, but he's feeling great and looking better every day! Baloo is a large, happy boy who loves attention, enjoys adventures, and is ready to find a family to call his own.

Baloo is currently being fostered in Houston, TX.

Royal Flush

Royal Flush has made one thing very clear during her time decompressing in Florida… She doesn’t just want a family — she wants her person. And if that person happens to be a guy? Even better.

After being returned to the shelter five years after being adopted as a puppy, Royal Flush found herself with only three days left to live. Thanks to a last-minute rescue effort and a freedom ride filled with kindness, she’s now safe and starting over — ready to find the forever bond she’s been missing.

Royal Flush’s Personality

- About 6 years old | 45 lbs

- Forms deep, loyal bonds with her people

- Especially drawn to male companions — she’s decided foster dad is her absolute rockstar

- Rides great in the car but will dramatically miss her favorite human if he steps away (yes, there may be some crying involved!)

- Affectionate, social, and full of personality

- Happy to hang with everyone, but once she picks her person, you’re her whole world

She’s sweet with her foster mom and happily supervises lunchtime snacks, but if her favorite guy walks into the room? Game over — he’s the main character and she makes sure everyone knows it. Royal Flush would thrive in a home where she can be a devoted companion — the kind of dog who follows you from room to room, rides shotgun, and makes you feel like the most important person on earth.

She isn’t just looking for a home. She’s looking for her human.

Royal Flush is currently being fostered in Florida
