Xander
Xander, a stunning black Chow with a heart as vast as the Texas skies, is now available for adoption! This 45-pound, 1.5-year-old pup was rescued from the Killeen shelter and is seeking a loving forever home.

Bagheera
Bagheera is still searching for her forever family. Thanks to the unwavering love and patience of her foster mom, Bagheera now enjoys giving kisses, wagging her tail, and even sleeping on the bed. She remains cautious and needs time to feel safe, but once she builds trust and security, her love and loyalty is STRONG! She loves exploring her surroundings at her own pace, but slow introductions to new places and people are best. With her observant nature and sweet demeanor, Bagheera needs a calm, Chow-savvy adopter who understands her unique personality.
A peaceful, low-stress home without children under 12 years old is perfect. She thrives with a secure, fenced yard where she can roam safely, and a calm canine companion is ideal. Due to her prey drive, she needs a home without cats or small animals.

Carmello
Carmello is a sweet and loving dog who quickly warms up to those around him. He enjoys attention from people and is a happy dog who even howls when he hears fire trucks. Carmello likes to be close to people but also enjoys running around with other dogs. He does have a tendency to run out the front door to roam but has not tried to dig or escape his fenced back yard. He also has a few funny quirks including paddling in the water bowl and trying to eat kibble as it's being poured into his bowl. Carmello’s ideal home is one where he can receive regular exercise. He would also thrive with a dog sibling and may be fine with cats with proper introductions.

Ace
Ace joined HCCC with his brother Deuce and adapted quickly to his new environment. He is 3-year-old cat who is very affectionate and vocal. He loves attention, ear and back scratches, and his cat tree. He also does well with canine siblings.

Sasha
Sasha is a 5-year-old Chow who joined HCCC after she was rescued as a stray. Her foster says she has been thriving, enjoying both human and canine company. She’s an absolute doll, loving every moment with her toys, the endless cuddles, and the other dogs. But it’s the cool Colorado nights that seem to be her favorite—she adores lounging outside and soaking in the cool breeze.

Cheyenne & her Puppies
When we rescued Cheyenne from the euthanasia list, we had no idea she was carrying a beautiful surprise. After finding safety, she brought five precious puppies into the world. It was a heart-stopping moment—knowing these little lives almost didn’t get their chance, and now they’re here, safe and loved, and Cheyenne has become the most devoted mom.
